I ordered a Loki 54/2800 motor case from Ted at OneBadHawk. Unfortunately it was my first instance of having a package stolen off my doorstep. All caught on my Ring doorbell...

It was posted in the Ring Neighborhood group. Other neighbors have seen the truck, it's pretty distinctive.

I wanted to lose that case in the middle of the desert, not off my porch!

There wasn't any insurance on the package and I didn't expect there to be. Any advice on what I can do at this at this point would be appreciated. I've already reached out to Ted to order another.

Very strange. How would that person see any value in a motor case?

BTW, I gotta get me one of those cameras! :)

They'll either throw it in the trash when they realize they can't sell it for drug money, or list it on Craigslist with a few misspelled words.

Good luck...

Well they had no idea it was a motor case when they stole it. Hopefully they realize it's worthless to them and bring it back!

I'm not holding my breath.
Doesn't the whole thing seem extremely random and a waste of time. Most of what is left on porches is Amazon junk. A person trying to resell it cannot compete with Amazon in price or delivery. You must have some really desperate and stupid junkies where you live.

I find myself more and more using ship to access point with FedEx or UPS for this very reason. They hold the box till you get off work and sign for it with ID at a locked store where it won’t get porch swiped. Worth the extra $10 over mail costs. Sorry to hear that happened to you. Douche that stole it could’ve had a real job worked all the hours he spent door shopping and actually made more money imo. It’s lazy incompetent trolls like him that piss me off. There’s plenty of jobs these days. People need to go work.

Good point! I've done this before and it's great. I travel a lot and packages are problematic. I think picking it up at the UPS/FedEx store is gonna be my plan from here on out.

I didn't think this one was going to be a problem but OneBadHawk has really fast shipping! The package beat me home by a day.

Wow. Glad I live where I do. The neighborhood I am in is referred to as the Bermuda Triangle by the local pizza places because of it's maze-like layout. I know of no instances of porch pirates here. Wish you best of luck getting that back...

Not random at all. Very common in fact.

Desperation is the way of the junkie, and they're just as desperate where you live.

Your "competing with Amazon" comment Puzzles me. They'll sell it to an aluminum recycler to fund whatever their particular addiction may be.

Don't do drugs.

I'm not talking about Loki product in particular. I am referring to any random Amazon delivery that is stolen from a porch. Reselling an item will always cost more than a purchase under Amazon Prime direct. Idiots on average will never make any money using this strategy. Sorry you live in a high drug area. DAllen and I are far more insulated than you.

Everyone lives in a high drug area. They frequent the nicer neighborhoods because we have nicer packages.
I doubt that. Do you live on 180 acres where your wife packs 20+ long-range rifles and has hyper sensitive deer cameras and proximity sensors leading up to your residence?

And BTW the wife has won state championships in skeet and trap shooting?!

I'm not really sure what your wife and her rifles has to do with any of this.

Rural areas have a much higher instance of substance abuse per capita than the city. Boredom is dangerous.

This thread just took the crePolish_20200303_233019924.jpg epiest, weirdest turn in the history of The Rocketry Forum.
Based on the gravel entry way in your video I am guessing you live in the Southwest. Phoenix crime stats are here.

Furthermore, lets argue your prejudicial statement about "nicer packages." There are more millionaires per capita in my 50 mile radius than any other location in the Midwest US. I cannot compare that to Southwest US suburbs, but until you bring the stats, give up the argument.

Dude what is your problem?

You've threatened to have your wife shoot me and now you feel it's my fault it got stolen because I don't live in isolation.

All because I was asking for help after someone stole something off my porch.

I can see why you live in the middle of nowhere. Social interaction doesn't seem to be one of your strengths.

OK, you changed your response, but please, on your former response, provide the data. Instead, consider this: https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/02/health/rural-urban-drug-overdose-mortality-rates/index.html.

That article proves my original point. We all live in a high drug area. You must not have read past the headline.

You're not making much sense and you've threatened to have your wife shoot me.

Which is hilarious.

So forgive me if I'm not taking you seriously.

I assume you filed a police report? Long shot for recovery but you never know. Maybe a detective will recognize the perp.

A police report is in the works. Ring makes it easy to forward on the video evidence.

That's a great point about law enforcement recognizing him. There's a high likelihood he's had some interaction with them in the past.

Dude, you are far too self-consumed. Neither my wife or I care anything about you and did not reference you in any way. Hope you deal successfully with your crime-ridden neighborhood.

And why are you not posting rocket-related stuff instead of your personal, crime, police crap???

Classy. Thanks for caring.

Did you use a credit card? Some cards have purchase protection that covers this situation.

Hmm good point. It was a credit card through PayPal. PayPal might even have some sort of protection in addition to the credit card. Hmm...
