I had to have the ACL replaced in my left knee about 20 years ago. Yes, that was an early indicator that I was 'past it'. Before the surgery, the nurse handed me a sharpie and had me write 'Yes" on the left knee, and 'NO' on the right knee. I guess it could have been Disney not dat knee instead.

Got to give credit where credit is due. I bet a lot of "wrong part removed" errors are prevented that way. When I had my cataract surgery, my prep team circled the correct eye with a pen of some kind and had me verify that it was the correct eye.
