Sooner Boomer's new thread gave me the idea for this thread. Here's my favorite:

This is a newly found favorite (probably old though). :)

A bit more seriously, I recently heard at work a version of "The Little Drummer Boy" that I like. I've heard this several times lately among various holiday songs (I'm totally sick of new verions of Paul McCartney;s "Simply having a wonderful Christmas Time", they need to play PAUL's original. I have heard at least three different versions of it at work. Ugh. I like the song, just not the other versions).

Anyway...I sort of found that song, but not the version I heard. Sharon Jones (singer) and the Dap-Kings. The version I heard does not have the brass section or background singers as heard in this video below. Just her voice, the guitar riffs, and drums (drumming a bit different too, no solos, emphasizes her singing). Wish I could find that version.

O Holy Night makes me cry every time I hear it, especially the 2nd and 3rd verses.

I really like Mary, Did You Know? ELP's Nutrocker always gives me a smile.

The video of Picard singing Let it Snow was quite good, but that had to take a lot of time to make.

I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. I like it because it is cute and one of the local radio people HATES it. She really gets annoyed when people request it.

Bing Crosby with David Bowie, Little Drummer Boy, Peace on Earth.

Hard to imagine the cultural impact this TV broadcast had at bridging the generation gap at the time.

Also, a very funny parody by Will Ferrell and John C. Riley.

Always brings a smile.

And this one ... I love the lyrics, but the male singer dancing in the background just makes the video.

It's not really Christmas until I hear this song at least once!

And then there is this one:

Growing up in the Seattle area in the late 80's and early 90's, those have been burned into my memory!

Really tough to pick just one. I'll say Love on Letterman:

Lots of runner-ups :)

Christmas Song - Jethro Tull
Father Christmas - Kinks
2000 Miles - Pretenders
Harry Simeone Chorale - Little Drummer Boy - the whole album was in heavy rotation at Mom and Dad's house back in the day.

O Holy Night, sung by Martina McBride.
Runners up- Christmas Eve-Sarajevo by Trans Siberian Orchestra and Sleigh Ride by orchestra with vocalists.

"Christmas Eve in Washington" by Maura Sullivan. She actually worked for a radio station in DC (WMZQ). I spent many a Christmas and Christmas Eve in DC during my career with the fire department. During the holidays this song would come on while riding in the ambulance or in the supervisors car. Always brings back memories.

I have a few favorites for different reasons. The Dropkick Murphys song above always makes me laugh. This one always brings back good memories. I was fortunate enough to be close to my great-grandparents before they passed. They had this song on a record and always played it for me during the Holidays. Hearing it brings back memories of all the good times we had.

The first one isn't really a Christmas song in the traditional sense, but it DOES have "Christmas" in the title, and it absolutely is one of my favourites, (and it DOES say something that desperately needs to be said of late), so.....

Other favourites include:

My mother's church choir singing "Oh Holy Night", which I unfortunately don't have a video to post for.
And I pretty much love most any version of "(I'm Dreaming of a) White Christmas"

Run Rudolph Run as performed by Lemmy, Dave Grohl, and Billy Gibbons is probably my favorite.

One of my long-lost, used-to-be-prized-possessions, was Motorhead's Christmas Edition of Ace of Spades - which was really just a 12" single of the regular track but with this sleeve:

From the resident grinch: my usual line around December 20th is that if I hear Rudolph one more time, I'm going to be singing a slaying song tonight. Carry on. :)

Actually...Don't care too much for Christmas Songs for the past 12 years.
My Father passed Dec. 22, 2006. Very depressing time for me since then.
We haven't had funds for Christmas since 2012, which hasn't helped.
I try like heck around here not to let it show so it doesn't effect everyone else in the home.
Christmas has changed much since I was a kid. It's all about commerce now, and not the true meaning.
You would be surprised how many young people these days don't have a clue what celebrating Christmas is all about.
