From Milton, PA any of the clubs are a distance.
The PARA 520 club is another you may consider. We fly in central Bucks county. Probably same distance from you as the Lancaster club.

Biggest issue we have is there are lots of trees (see photos on Facebook). If conditions (wind) is right then we do fly to over 2000 feet but with wind in wrong direction keep flights much lower.
I just picked a club to join, just to get my foot in the door. I looked years ago and didn't have this kind of response I've been getting now. There are a few clubs that look great. I'm still hooked on URRG in upstate NY. I have no clue about this club I joined in Lancaster, other than some info on the website. But I paid my fees for thst club "SPAAR" near Lancaster. If it's if its not the club for me, ill have to find one that fits. I really want one that has motor vendors, I talked to the one club President in the NAR, he lives about 10 mins from me!!! He said they are always trying to find a launch space, so maybe we'll get something kicked off here near Bloomsburg, PA. But for now I'm gonna keep going, I'm going in the right direction and when I mean I got no help in 2013 asking the same questions thats not joke. Some dude were pretty harsh and I just said screw it, why build if I can't launch? But that has changed...Danville PA, has a nice small private airport that might be perfect, thats in between where I'm living now in Milton and Bloomsburg. I'm not giving up. Today is gonna be phone calls and emails...

I joined SPAAR a few days ago, hoping to hit the July 29th launch!!!!

Ok, hope SPAAR works. Never been there so no comment about them.
Also best luck getting a field and club started out there near Milton.

I also go to MDRA to fly HPR. Great fun seeing BIG rockets with BIG motors.

PARA allows guest flying so if you wish to stop by you'll be welcome.
Oh.. we do normally have a vendor, Rocketship Games, that sells motors up to 'G', kits and supplies.

Made a fin template but don't have the material to make them all. Want the tubes slotted, so I'm gonna head to the dollar store and get construction paper and make my own fins like that. Ill post pics of it later but it should work out great! And my fin rounding tool works great, better pic to show that too...

I need a sure spot for my L1 with an H motor its gonna go up to 2500 feet or so. I may try one in NY, or Maryland. I'm still taking in info, but gonn start at that SPAAR launch in July.

Started this over in the MPR forum, but gonna be ultimately flying this for my L1 cert. Go over to MPR and read my thread it explains alot, but since this is the correct forum I'll. But now I'm building an Olympus to test the jollylogic chute release im getting for this, but have all the parts and more. Ill continue and upgrade the post here but some pics below. Be kind, I'm doing this the right way. And thanks to all for the positive support. Michael B.

Got the rest of the stuff I need except the JollyLogic Chute Release and Altimeter 3. The 29mm motor retainers from Rocketryworks are pretty cool. Time to slowly start measuring and maybe make the forward section. Already mocked it out with an old pc of tubing, so just need to cut and build.

Got some more stuff today. Just cut the tube for the forward section. Did a rough cut with paper around the outside and a pencil line. Then put the coupler inside and trimmed it, then sanded it so its almost perfect. Took about 15 mins but im getting it. Slowy...

good job, keep the pics coming
Thanks, I did the nose cone with 2 screws, I have seen them done that way and I dont see why I couldn't? On the laptop now, when I get to my phone Ill post a pic. Got into a facebook argument over me using 3 ft or so of 550 lb kevlar cord, then using elastic shock cord the rest of the way with quick lins for my chute setup. Kind of of worked me up, but I have someone giving me advice and he's not told me anything wrong yet....And has his L1/L2 and has for years.

That should work.

Amazon or the Jolly Logic website/ same difference.. they're coming from the same place.

I'd be surprised if you can find an Altimeter 3 though.

Anytime you mentioned the word elastic then people get their panties all wadded up as they usually will make the comment "elastic is only good within the top of underwear", so usually just ignore that kind of stuff.

Got the nosecone done, made plywood backing plates for the 1010 rail buttons, the motor tube end cut square to the tube, and marked/mocked up the Motor tube for fins and centering rings, gonna use 3. Then I'll mark the tube for the rail buttons. I'm not putting the aft centering rings gonna until after the fins are epoxied as well as the rail button supports. When I'm ready to assemble I'm gonna use a few drops of CA just to hold things in place. This 3D 29mm motor retainer was the best $.99 I've ever spent. Thank you RocketryWorks!

Rail button backing plates from plywood, not pretty but you won't see them. I made them a little thiner due to the BT-80 size.

Mocked up the motor mount tube. Looks good so far. Got the forward section done, rail button backing plates made, and cut and saqured up the forward motor tube end. But it all lines up. Love these $.99 29mm 3D printed motor retainers!!

I have liked using a kevlar leader out of the air frame, then transition to tubular nylon.
In my L1 rockets case a pro series 2 elastic cord very similar to the spool from Amazon I assume.
I only have 6 flights on my L1 bird but check the shock cord regularly for wear and tear.
The elastic does make for a more energetic recovery event, I hope the rear swept fins hold up to landing.
I tend to make my recovery harnesses long, at least 2x the rocket length.
