Can you wash nomex or will it hurt to fire resistance of the material?

I wash mine after every now & again with no ill effect. I usually just rinse it in warm water or sometimes use dish soap.

Just soak and wash in plain water and mild detergent.

I wash mine all the time. Kevlar line, too. Dish soap and some warm water.

Care instructions for Nomex flight clothing (washed on a regular basis) perscribe warm water and mild detergent, liquid fabric softener is allowed but dryer sheets are a no no. For recovery gear, just a hand wash in regular laundry soap would do fine and just hang it to dry. Be sure to thoroughly rinse it, soap residue will burn.

Use to design Nomex items. Washing is fine but do not dry it if you avoid it. Drying causes fiber loss which reduces the FR effecacy
