We were talking at work and someone asked a question about the good ol' tape measure...and of course no one could answer...

If you look at the 19 3/16" mark, you will see a diamond shape...what in the world is it for????

They are like the stud markers only for trusses instead. Layed out for 5 trusses per 8' of plywood.

It is a way for developers to save a joist, truss or stud every 8 foot. The 24" standard is not strong enough for many townships, boroughs, cities, villages but the 16" standard is well within the rules, so they cheat a bit. ;-)

Doesn't sound like much, but save 40 studs 5 trusses and 5 joists a house and after 10 you've built a free house.

Good question, I've heard it asked many times.
