Spray paint Nozzle

I have a half can of OLD KRYLON that the nozzle stem cracked on. I'm pretty sure I removed the broken off pieces. But when I put in a new nozzle from another can of old kyrlon it sprayed all over the place. I've swapped nozzles plenty of times but have never seen this. Any thoughts?
