November 18th (Friday) will be a TRA research event, so you must be a member of TRA to fly rockets on this date. November 19th and 20th (Saturday and Sunday) will be commercial days, so you must be an active member of NAR or TRA to fly on these dates. Our PMW FIELD RULES apply to all launches, including Roctober Skies. Please view our LAUNCH INFO page for directions to the field. Also plan to bring garbage bags with you and to take all trash with you when you leave the field. We plan on having a flyers meeting at 9am, and opening the launch after the meeting. The range will close around 5pm.
There are several hotels in Sylacauga, Alabama which is about 14 miles from the field. The PMW members typically stay at the TOWNE INN, with rates of $40 per night (if you tell them that you are with the PMW rocket club), and the rooms include a microwave and small fridge. There is also a HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS, with higher rates, across the street. There is a Wal-Mart and a Home Depot less than ½ mile from the Towne Inn.
We would appreciate your donating some time to assist in the management duties of this launch. If you want to help and you are a TRA or NAR Level 2 or Level 3 flyer, then please go to our DUTY ROSTER SIGN UP page and chose your desired duty and time.
If you have an “N” impulse (or higher) flight planned, please contact the PRESIDENT. Our standing waiver is 23,000 feet AGL from 9am to dark every weekend, and after dark to 10pm our waiver is to 10,000 feet AGL. If you need motors or any rocket components, please contact Carey Huff at HUFF PERFORMANCE. We will post a vendors page once other vendors commit to this launch.
The pre-registration launch fee is $25 for the Saturday and Sunday launch, and $30 for the full three day launch. The on-field registration will be $5 extra for the two and three day launch. Please print, complete, and mail the pre-registration sheet along with your check to our treasurer, Dennis Cotton. There will be a porta-potty on site. ALL flyers including vendors will pay the launch fee if they want to fly. There is no fee for vendors attending the launches who participate as vendors only. Spectators watch the show for free.
If you want a t-shirt, please add $20 to the pre-registration fee. The t-shirts we received for Sky Jam last February were excellent. We are using the same vendor again, and this price is subject to decrease based on the number of t-shirts pre-ordered.
We are blessed with a very respectable waiver and about three square miles of recovery area, so load the car with rockets and come join us in Winterboro, Alabama. We hope to see you There!.
