I make my own engines and they work pretty well, the issue is black powder. It's hard to get here and really expensive, I was thinking I could use a SG90 servo motor to release the nose cone and parachute, has anyone done something like this?

I am doing some sketching on an electromechanical system that forces the nose cone or payload bay away from the rest of the airframe. Does not use springs or a servo for the separation. It is more than a little Rube Goldberg, but I think it can be made to work nicely.

Tests will be via radio control, but will also work from a timer of altimeter. Dual deploy of the main at low altitude will be via RC.

I am having a tough time getting away from springs and servos, and definitely interested in what you come up with.
