Ok I have a new 9" apogee parachute protector for my Wolverine 2.6.
Tim says let it slide along the recovery harness. I don't believe that is the greatest of ideas.
I have a very long kevlar recovery harness from Scott at Dragon Rocketry. It is looped into his method of epoxied to motor mount inside forward centering ring. The recovery harness is a two loop, attached to the motor harness, and directly to a quick link to the nose cone eye bolt. The recovery harness is stored in electricians braid in side the body tube.
The Parachute is attached to a sampo ballbearing swivel, attached to the quick link, attached to the nose cone eyebolt, and includes a jolly logic chute release, and a altimeter two.
In my mind I should make a third loop 3 feet down from the nose cone and tie the chute protector in there.
I figure that will keep it from sliding up and fouling the chute.
I have tested the chute release attached as per instructions to the shroud line. I keep seeing that as a problem in my mind, and from others experiences on here.
I have decided to move it to the swivel portion attached to the quick link. My reasoning is that will keep the swivel from working until the chute release opens. Maybe this is a dumb idea?
Maybe it should be on the parachute attachment portion of the swivel so they can both swivel together in the slipstream until the chute opens.
