I love the Estes 18mm screw-on engine retainers and planned on using them on one of my next builds. However, I'm curious as to whether they work with Aerotech's 18/20 reloadable engine casing. From pictures and my experiences with the 18mm Estes retainer, I assumed it would, althoughthe built-in thrust ring might prevent the screw-on portion of the retainer from fully screwing on. However, because the 18/20 is metal, will the heat melt the Estes 18mm screw on retainer system?

I presume it would, but was curious to see if anyone has actual experience with this proposed set up.

I haven't used the 18mm yet but use the Estes 24mm & 29mm plastic retainers and never a heat issue. Some of these have over a dozen flight with AT re-loads.
