Clearly lot of hours and other resources building that tower.

Would piston launch systems work better or worse for water rockets vs standard black powder or composite motor rockets?

There is a kind of piston launch system used very often with water rockets called a launch tube. It's a hollow tube that goes up the nozzle and usually extends the full length of the pressure chamber. The launch tube diameter is just slightly smaller than the size of the nozzle. When the rocket is released, this has the effect of a piston accelerating the rocket up the tube so that by the time it leaves the tube it already has momentum and only then it starts using the water and air for thrust. A launch tube can raise the overall altitude by 10-15%.

Does it replace the launch lug or rail buttons?

Thanks guys, this was a fun build. Next, we'll try to fly it again as a water rocket but at higher pressure.
