When I built this rocket I made the mistake of using nylon instead of Kevlar for the shock cord. That was a long time ago however as you can tell by the powder residue and I have since changed my ways. On the last flight this melted on its way back down and the fin can fell from about 1000 feet. It was completely find somehow and I’ve been wanting to reattach the shock cord using Kevlar. Does anyone know how to do this? I definitely need an alternate mounting point. I thought maybe putting a bolt through the airframe and attaching it there. The airframe is phenolic if that helps. Any tips are welcome!

Just make another CR with a notch on one side. Install it above the old one with enough room to thread a new cord through notch, pull it up, tie a loop and thread end through loop and pull tight. You now have a new cord that can be replaced easy if needed again.
