Might be a good place to stick some Mylar tapePicked up my bowls last weekend and thinking of staging them. Should I have any concerns about doing that? (I'm thinking the booster bowl's plastic is sturdy enough not to melt from the sustainer's exhaust)?
Indeed. Wouldn't hurt in the looks dept either.Might be a good place to stick some Mylar tape
Thanks George, I keep forgetting how draggy saucers can be. Glad I didn't yet convert both to 18mm power, I like the idea of using a D12-0 for the booster stage (didn't Estes discontinue production of C11s? I really liked that in-between sort of motor). You might want to add a plywood disk (like a centering ring) on top of the first bowl (booster), to act like a blast deflector for the upper engine. I'm just leery that two might be a bit heavy and draggy for a single C6 to boost without a lot of weathercocking. Now if you had one converted for a D12 and did a D12-0 to a C6 (or C11-0 to C6), that oughta work great (years ago, I had two Centuri Flying Saucers, one D12 powered, and flew them staged several times).
That decision was reversed when the Langfords took over Estes. C11's are back. I'd order from AC Supply Co.(didn't Estes discontinue production of C11s? I really liked that in-between sort of motor).
Excellent, thanks for setting that straight. Methinks now would be an opportune time to place a refill order. That decision was reversed when the Langfords took over Estes. C11's are back. I'd order from AC Supply Co.
