Far from original, I built this about three years ago because my eyes just weren't sharp enough to keep fins straight anymore.
I made it from scraps of 1" foundry pattern plywood...this stuff just isn't going to flex, bend or warp. The bevels keep the tube centered, even small tubes are easily held in place with an extra bit of scrap. The jaws are spaced the proper distance with scraps of the original fin stock. Don't know how I did almost fifty years without one of these, although I had one of those cheesy plastic Estes ones for a bit...this one is way better, in part because it doesn't count on me installing the engine mount if I'm not ready for it.
