Just finished a new scratch build of the kit Estes produced between 1990-92 called the Alien Space Probe. Made a few mods. Kevlar motor mount. Hand painted instead of decals. In the end she still very much like the original. I will put up some pics of her first flight scheduled for tomorrow.
Here she is:

You hand painted the SP4 and what-not on the fins?
Dang....

Very, very well done...

Upon closer inspection it is noticable but I wanted to give it a try. I almost always do decals but a voice from my earlier life as an artist said "you can do it - just paint them" :)

This kit is available at this vendor in the UK :

I ordered one last week along with a couple of other OOP kits they still have in stock there. The Alien Space Probe is priced at 6.99 GBP, which works out to about $13 US.

I also ordered an IRIS and a Geo Sat LV. I rec'd an email today that they were being shipped (ordered on 8/11), so I'll let you know how it works out.
