Can someone enlighten me on what SPEV stands for? I can usually figure out abbreviations but this one has me stumped. Thanks.
Spare Parts Elimination Vehicle.
When parts left over in the manufacture of one kit are used in another kit.
The original SPEV is here:
https://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/k-59.htmIt apparently used the left over parts of an earlier kit that ended production, the Thor Agena:
https://www.spacemodeling.org/jimz/k-28.htmParticularly the specialty BT-52 nose cone, body tube and adapter.
Since then modellers have given the acronym that meaning, although that may not have been the original intent.

I have to Google the young kids' acronyms on texts and social media all the time.

Hey, anybody know where these leftover decals go? Too big for the model.
Apparently the originals were peel and stick so.....
Forehead?
Arm tatoos?
Range box?
Stick 'em wherever you want?

When one kit has been retired and they have lots of parts to get rid of they may release a new kit as a vehicle to eliminate spare parts.
You could scan those decals and print them mirror image on iron on transfer paper to make your own T shirt.

Just to give you an idea what the display stand looks like.
I dry fitted the name decal and engine casing to a Goonie stand.
Casing needs to be glued to the stand, stand needs to be clear coated and waterslide name decal applied. But you get the drift.

The spray painted waterslide decal band came out nicely.

Decals are applied, and the EAC Viper (not Viking) is done!

Glue fillets and touch up paint is drying on the EAC Firecat.
Hopefully finishing up with decals tomorrow.

Did you have any trouble getting the painted decal to lay down flat when applying it?
No problems, but I used light coats of paint and the brand of decal paper has a very thin decal film.
Here's pic of it around the launch lug.

P.S. Oh, and I soaked it for only 50 seconds or so. Enough to loosen it but not wash out the mucilage.
