During a recent launch I had a G78 fail to ignite. Both times the ignitors fired. Right after the second failure, I swapped out the motor for another G78, and it took off just fine.

Result: launch.

Not sure what's up...or if the motor is useable. I'm new to composites, so I don't know if I'm missing something here. My plan is to shove a rod inside and scratch it up, but wanted to check here first. Thanks for looking.

That might do the trick(the roughing up of the grain)..Greens ARE notoriously hard to light sometimes..Surprised the Firstfire didn't light it:eyepop:

I would go ahead and file a MESS report through NAR and drop an e-mail to Aerotech about your problem..Who knows AT MAY send you a new motor!:)

First fires are decent igniters, but sometimes you need something hotter. Barium Nitrate absorbs moisture out of the air quite quickly; that will make the motor harder to light. Look around to see if anyone has any magnelite or quickburst igniters you can use.

It's a green, that's not uncommon, especially as they age.
