Have any of you ever extracted the data from your BRB900 or other GPS tracker, and gotten the kml file to plot in google Earth.

I have watched 3-4 tutorials and still cant see how to get google earth to plot the flight data.......
This is the file from my locator and should have both flights on it from LDRS41. Including the crash of my SA-14 Archer
Any help ?
Thank you

There is no lat/lon coordinate data in your kml file.

I would say download BRB900 in the xb3 app again and repeat the kml file write. It may take a while. Wait until it completes. You should have lines in the kml file that look like this:

<coordinates>
-86.576655,41.777658,00198 <!-- 30450 sats:10 UTC 19:31:47 -->
-86.576657,41.777658,00198 <!-- 30465 sats:10 UTC 19:31:48 -->
-86.576655,41.777657,00198 <!-- 30480 sats:10 UTC 19:31:49 -->
-86.576655,41.777658,00198 <!-- 30495 sats:10 UTC 19:31:50 -->
-86.576653,41.777658,00198 <!-- 30510 sats:10 UTC 19:31:51 -->
-86.576653,41.777657,00198 <!-- 30525 sats:10 UTC 19:31:52 -->

By repeat the kml file write are you saying try to download it off my BRB900 GPS locator again ?

Yes. Are you using the xb3.exe utility? Once you read the flight data from flash memory, you hit the "write kml" button. There is "fix kml" also, but I never figured out what that does.

Ok will try that ............ I cant even get the .kml file in Charles' post, to import and show anything on Google Earth

Thank you Buckeye .......... I ddownloaded the XB3 Program and started over ........... This time as I imported the .kml file it went to this..........
Not sure what the hell that stuff I circled in Pink is .... ?? GPS was NEVER over there.

Archer Crash GPS Plot E .jpg

Looks like it recorded the Crash of my SA-14 Archer . But NOT the Earlier LVL2 Cert Flight

I don't think the BRB900 is good at multiple flights. There is limited flash memory. Once the unit runs out of memory, it will stop recording -or- wrap over the earlier data, depending on your setting. Since you got the 2nd flight and not the first, I am guessing that it wrapped over. It is best to download the data after each flight and clear the flash memory.

Does the trajectory look correct for your crashed Archer? Perhaps the data in pink is residual data from an earlier flight, or the crash corrupted some data.

Buckeye,

You are correct I just got a reply form Greg at Big Red Bee and he confirmed the unit will record once its powered on.
If I want to save each flight I have to down load the kml file. Not a problem I just think I forgot that part.

I flew it three times and only have the last flight........ Makes sense now that I know why.

As for that kml file I posted, the arc of the flight looks bigger than I thought i saw at the field.
Can a crash actually corrupt FLash Drive data ??

Glad you confirmed the issue with Greg.

I don't know about the crash. Just guessing.

GPS transmitters get confused about where they are sometimes and jump around great distances.
