113 for the motor, 40 for the rear closure. Casing free (gotta love those certification specials!)

Cut some 10" centering rings and stepped bulkheads for my 7.75X Cherokee build (ignore the bloodstains--minor accident :)).

Flew my Estes Patriot for the first time on a B6-4 and then on a C6-3. Great flights but it really weathercocked on the C motor. The chute brought it back nicely close to the pad though.

Bought some more laminating epoxy, a 38mm aluminum mandrel and peel ply for an upcoming build:):)

Worked on the blast/air vanes for my L-13. Thanks tonypv for the excellent information about them! :)

Not much yet today, but spent all day at the DARS high power launch yesterday....:)

Lot of rockets in the air and a few were my own.

Reorganized my building stuff. Here my typical time use distribution for model rocketry:

Thinking about it: 90%
Forums and internet: 7%
Building rockets: 2.8%
Flying rockets: 0.2%

When I analyse how I use my time, I always end up thinking that Nike really found something with their slogan: Just Do It!

I also added a link to my liftoff videos in my signature. I'll try to make the list increase in number and quality. Filming and photographing liftoffs certainly isn't easy!

That seems to pretty much reflect my rocketry time distribution as well.

Just started working on the Estes V2.

Hope to shape it up into a thing of beauty. I don't wish to use a German color scheme, so I may go with Tintin's X-FLR6 rocket pattern.

Told my mom the cost if the motor for my L2 cert next weekend (CTI K740). She got really mad I spent that much. Flew a couple small rockets at the CMASS lower power launch today. Also picked up the three motors I will launch next weekend with MMMSC.

That cuts it time to find a new Mom.

I spent today cleaning all the stuff I launched yesterday. I was starting to wonder if the bucket of soapy water was going to stop producing quick links, motor parts, and cable cutter pieces. This is yet another price of fun I suppose.

Did some filling and sanding of a repair. I would have liked to do more today but my package of parts that were supposed to arrive Sat. never did. Looked up the tracking number and this is the last entry.

As of right now I'm planning on using 2 CTI L990 blue streaks. I like the fact that blue motors light quickly and easily and I don't need any issues with trying to get a booster or sustainer motor up to pressure. If you can't cook then I understand but next year you're on the hook. :)

That's some serious blue streak there!
I have just been informed that "THE BOSS" will be serving up Javalina Green Chili stew on Friday night. This stuff is not to be missed! We just added our big stew pot to the new kitchen, so all Airfest participants are invited to partake. Bring your favorite spoon, we will provide everything else.
Not to derail the thread, Today I built my third 75mm motor, a CTI L995 Red Lightning and installed it in the "Red Tailed Extreme". I like the idea of giving this bird a red tail on it's first flight. We started packing the truck today, and will be bringing the trailer over in the morning to do the final pack before we leave on Tuesday.
We shouldn't be hard to find, just look around where Wildman is set up:

Seriously sweet toy hauler, Wayne. Does your group allow you to chase rockets on dirt bikes or quads? That's the civilized approach we used at AMA Free Flight launches back in the day.

We have been using the Jeep out at the Eagle Eye launch area, but it won't fit in the new toy hauler. Other members of TRA/PHX have quads, and we will be getting one eventually. The farm fields in Argonia are different, you don't drive out on them, just the roads along the edges. We will be using the truck for recovery there.
First big trip starts tomorrow, 1000 miles to the Rocket Pasture!

Learned that my Eggfinder got fried during the assembly process. Therefore making me have to replace it... Thanks a TON to cerving for working with me on this. :)

This is a three day stretch of stuff but here goes:
  • Saturday went to DARS high power launch with my daughter. Loving that she has become my rocket buddy.
  • Yesterday received notice that a Wildchild that went missing three months ago was found.
  • Yesterday received a Wildman Sport for my birthday.
  • Today should receive an Egg Finder (also for a birthday though it didn't quite make it.)
  • Will also work on getting the Wildman Sport ready for assembly this evening.

Pretty spoiled by my wife who indulges my hobby. :)

I wonder how often that happens. Personally I would never try it as I am only good at soldering bigger stuff.

I glued an Aeropack onto a motor tube.

Today I joined the Tube Fin club with a rocket I am calling Parallax Terror!

Check out my build in the Scratch Builds forum, which seems to be the de-facto place for tube fins.

Made this red Chute to replace the yellow one for my TLP TAN-SAM.
I did'nt like how fast it was descending, so this new Chute' should slow it to my liking according to my Mindsim.:)
I had some red Shoelace to make the attachment Points out of so I ended up with a pretty boring looking Chute', but it will work.

Was that your Wildchild? I was observing a L1 attempt for the gentleman that found it. His flight had a long drift down range. He came across the Wildchild pretty far north on the field.

Was this the L1 flight a few months ago that just vanished after launch?

They're nice looking chutes!!

Started gluing the fins together on my Falcon Commander, also got the MMT assembled. Taking my time on this one, building it completely stock, but doing a ton of finishing work on it. Using a better quality BT than what came in the kit.
