Got this for my B'Day and had some time to start building it.

Very nice kit. Comes in a rather robust cardboard box and parts are nice quality.

After thinking about it a bit, I decided on the following mods:

  • Extended stuffer tube using Semroc ST-9180 tube and 24mm baffle
  • Estes 24mm retainer

Here are some pix:

Cheers!!

Would this be considered Low or Mid power? Or right in between?

My wife is building one of these right now. Pure stock though.

Aaron,

This would be right at the top of Low Power (D motors) and at the bottom of Mid Power (E and F motors).

I might try the AT RMS E18, but not much more because I don't want to lose it.

A bit more progress.

I almost replaced the Balsa fins with Basswood but decided to paper them.

I used Avery adhesive label stock and sealed the edges with thin CA.

The stuffer is glued in with 5 min. Epoxy and I am using Elmer's white glue to initially attach the fins. I will use Epoxy for the fillets.

I love that motor!! I flew the Vagabond and the Quest Big Dog on it. Its a great motor. Loud and impressive liftoffs!!

A bit more work finished.

Assembled and primed.

Thx all.

I used Krylon Glitter Blast Lucky Green over Krylon gray primer. What a PIA!

I used a whole can of clear and still could not get a super smooth finish. The Glitter Blast is just too coarse.

Next time, I will use a metallic paint.

However, it really flies nice.

Cheers

I love the color green but I tend to lose green rockets, bad luck I s'pose.

Your Mean Green looks great BTW.

Your Mean Green looks great BTW.

Probably because the green blends with grass.
Unless of course you meant cato, shock cord failure etc.

Actually I lose them in the grass, they cato, they shread, they prang... I just have bad luck with green rockets.
