For those on the edge of their seats:

Manny is flying tomorrow.

Alejandro

*Manny Update*

Manny and, I have had a serious discussion tonight based off the events of some flights he saw today.
Right now he feels that he needs too take tonight and, think over whether he wants too pursue a flight tomorrow.
For some people risk taking, stepping up will never be the option. It may be the money, it may be the challenge, it may be peer pressure......

I've told him too relax tonight, make a decision in the morning and, stick to it.....no matter what ANYONE else thinks.

It is better to have loved and, lost then too never have loved at all.
Fools rush in where Angels fear too fly......

The journey you have taken physically, mentally and, spiritually is greater than the sum of one flight.

I consider Manny too be a "Fearless Critter" who has a minor reservation about the construction of his rocket and, combination....A wise man spots the issue, corrects the issue and, lives too fly....possibly another day.

I will back you up 100% WHATEVER decision you may choose and, I would ask that you all respect the outcome.

Thank-you.....

I'm backing up Manny in whatever he chooses as well.

Its a little disconcerting (am I using that word right?) To pick up the broken peices of a 98 minimum diameter, very similar to Manny's.
I can't blame him for being cautious about this flight. Its a lot of pressure, and he was working like a mad man today, trying to get this ready to fly.

It was a good idea to postpone the flight.

I have this image in my mind this morning.......

*dum...dum......dum......dum.....*

The sun is rising across an ancient dry lake bed..... Somewhere in what will someday be known as "Nevada."

*dum....dum....dum.....dum.....*

A diminutive creature stirs from a deep sleep and, begins too rise.....

*dum......dum.......dum.....dum......*

The creature sees a strange dark object and, slowly approaches.....

*dum......dum......dum.....dum.....*

The creature sees it own destiny in the infinite darkness.....Of the paint job, fumbles for its keys and, disappears in a cloud of dust.....across an empty Playa......

*Dum...Dum...DAH......DUM!!!!!!*

Suddenly, a large bone is flying through the air......
What the heck is going on here?

"The Dawn Of Man......well.":D

Good luck today Sport, no matter what path you have chosen...

Manny, Have fun.

More unsolicited advice that will likely not even be read prior to you making your decision... I've always erred on the side of caution... just my nature I supposed. That said,... when I look back on decisions made to go / no go... It's never the "go for it" that I regret. It's the,... darn... I really should have gone for it.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

You have a lot of money, time, and sweat invested... Only you know what it right. Whether you fly today or another... I'll be rooting for you.

Best wishes.

Manny's rocket did not work. He got quite a lot of it back, this time, however, which gives him the opportunity to do some forensics and learn from it.

He's pretty wiped out right now, but once he recovers a bit, I'm sure he'll post more information.

Sorry to hear that, but I am still most impressed by the resilience he has shown in pursuing this. Learning to deal with failure (momentary, not overall) and push on is a difficult trait to develop, one that many people never develop.

I hope the post mortum points the way forward.

Good luck, Manny, and good show!

COPO....Mike, nice!

Just got off the phone with Manny and, i have too say that he is in very good spirits considering all that happened today......The good part is that he was able to retrieve most of the parts and, will be able to do a good post mortem latter.

Still very proud of you Man-well!:D Enjoy the rest of your stay out there.....along with the banquet tonight!

Looking forward to the video and, still pictures...It sounds like it was really "Flat Out Trucking!"

Here is a quick picture of the aftermath. I have many more pictures and will upload them all later (most likely when I get home). Jackson Lubin got the COOLEST picture that I have ever seen of the thing coming off the pad.

I'm in high spirits and am trying to learn from this latest disaster. However; I am going to step back for a little while and perfect my techniques. I will be back eventually though....

Sorry to hear Manny. Will be waiting to hear the analysis. HAve Jackson and Judy flown their's yet?

Dennis

Impressed with your attitude Manny! Great job. This was not a failure. Just another step on the journey to success.

Manny
I am so glad you went for it. Its was your choice but with college coming up and other things in life coming your way you never know when you can get a chance to try again. That picture of your rocket coming out of the tower should be the poster picture for all of HP rocketry for ever

Yep.

Another victim of the rocket eater.

The only successful minimum diameter 98-6XL flight was Gerald Meux, who hit 29,000 feet with an N5800.

I'll also add that Jim Jarvis used an N5800 in his minimum diameter two stager; while it didn't stage (upper stage didn't light), the booster with the N5800 worked flawlessly, and his electronics recovered everything. He just gets to be one of those rare people to fly the same N1100 twice.... :p
