I think I've sanded every CR I've ever installed. Just part of the process. Kits vary from being totally complete, and exactly fitting as some have mentioned.... to being a basic collection of parts that you have to cut out and work yourself. As long as a CR is round and there's enough meat... I'm happy. I've just started getting into fiberglass, and it's really not that bad fitting all the bits together.

If it's cardboard and balsa wood, it always fits. Even if it doesn't.

Ahh, the "If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks it needed replacing anyway." school of repair philosophy. My only problem with forcing cardboard is that it takes at least 4x the effort to extract as it did to insert, which usually leads to whatever it was being shorter. And several bad words. Strangely, I never seem to remember that problem when face with a new tight fit component.

I have a mixed bag fit wise. Most are pretty good. Then I build a G10 rocket from scratch. After doing that, the worst kit seems to fit like a dream compared to the mess I make creating my own parts.

Back to the Jart build! We derailed this enough.

I am shocked an appalled at the accusations of neglecting my Jart. As I said before, it's camera shy!

Now, I don't know about your Jart, but mine was not satisfied with the length of it's feeding tube and decided that it would like larger ones if possible. So I went to the hardware store and picked up a quaint device used to expand the area withing your jart. It looks look a lot like a 1/4-20 forged steel eyebolt.

Replace that screw that comes with the little nose tip bulkplate with your extension device

and there you go. You've just gained an entire nosecone worth of feeding tube room! And just because you all requested it. Here is the nosecone with the hat:

Have another horrid macro shot. This is the upper centering ring piercing, used to attach the leash!

I also attached the kevlar leash, and used some epoxy to make sure that the motor tube assembly stays where it's supposed to.

Does anyone know the CP for the Jart 5 kit. Starting my build and just wonerding about how much weight to put in the nose cone.

Thumb screws....burried inside the rocket....how will you tighten them when they come loose?

I had them laying around, so I used them. They are epoxied in place. I figure I'm already doing something wrong if I can reach that part of the rocket.

Not trying to hijack the thread but looking for some help from some fellow 5" Jart owners. I am rushing my build a bit to finish it for this weekend's launch. I'm hoping someone has a rocksim file that I can borrow/mod so that I can better predict what motor/delay to fly.

I foamed the nosecone and tend to build heavy.

Does anyone have suggestions for a CTI 54mm 3G motor/delay with the 5" Jart?

Thanks for any help,
