We had to put down our 17yr old Geni this last week. She'd been on meds for arthritis and asthma for many years. After we returned from a weekend away, she stopped eating, drank a ton, and started to hide out (multiple clues). The vet told us she was now diabetic and could be treated (for thousands a month), but the rest of her body might not hold out either.

We made the decision and got the kids through it. We now have a new adoptee from the Humane society. Molly is a 6mo. old grey tabby that is unbelievably loving, playful, and tolerant of the kids. She should fit right in... At least once our other (3yr. old calico Sadie) gets past wanting to kill her:rolleyes:. The introductions are going slowly, but much better than the start. They should be good in another week or two.

Sorry to hear about your loss Ken. It is nice that you adopted a new kitten.

Our older cat just would not have anything to do with the 10 month old, hissing and swatting at her. Now, they playfight all the time. It took a few months, Best of luck with Molly.

Our two are calico's also!

My condolences.

When we have introduced new kttens to the house it has sometimes taken up to six months for them to become friends. Toleration comes a little sooner.;)

This is always a sad time for a family.

God be with you and yours.
