The folks around the farm all know about the launches and have been friendly about returning rockets found on their farms.
But what actually happened was that they called me! I had written my name and home phone number on the NC shoulder, inside the payload bay, and inside the booster. They called my wife, who gave them my cell number, and they called me. Gave me their address. When I got there, they had pulled it away from the pond, loaded the laundry back in, and put it back together. I gave them some spending money for their trouble and invited them to come over and watch the launch. They were happy, I was happy.
We all (they two, myself, and Tom Cohen) stood around listening to the altimeters beep out.
