Gary, is the the kit that Wildman has listed as Shapeshifter Jr?

If so, is there a Shapeshifter that is not a Junior?

For all Wildman kits (with the exception of the minimum diameter ones), the naming scheme is as follows:

Mini/Child - 1.5" airframe, 29mm MMT, 0.062" fins
Lite - 2.1" thin wall airframe, 29mm MMT, 0.062" fins
Junior - 2.1" standard wall airframe, 38mm MMT, 0.093" fins
<standard kit name> - 3" airframe, 54mm MMT, 0.125" fins
Extreme - 4" airframe, 76mm MMT, 0.188" fins
Ultimate - 6" airframe, 98mm MMT, 0.188" fins
(Mega - 12" airframe...)

John:
The kit was originally designed as a 5" kit. Tim was planing to do the 5" later which is were the Jr came from. No 5" as of yet though.

Dude a 5" with a 98mm (or better yet, 114mm) mount would be SICK!

Dave:
THAT! was what I sent to Tim from day one. At that time he came out with like 4-5 new kits that were all 2.6". Rocksim file for the 5" was done a few years back.

Maybe if we keep it up, Tim will figure it out that we still want the 5" version.

Heh heh

Think you're 6 - 8 oz lighter. Solid rocket, good flyer, great design.
Thanks Gary

Nate, that looks great! Job well done! What do you have planned for the first flight? Make sure to post pics whatever you do.

BTW, which shade of green did you get the decals in? Mine are lime green and I was wondering if that's what it looks like. Gotta say, it looks pretty good without the second checkered band. Maybe I'll end up doing mine like that.

Thanks!
I'm still deciding on what to do for the first launch, I'll have to check the final weight. I was planning on maybe an F22J bit I doubt that'll have enough oomph. Perhaps an F40W then. I personally like that motor, but I'll have to run some Sims. I've got a G53FJ waiting in the wings... I'll definitely post pics!

The decals are Lime Green or alien green, I'm not sure what they're listed as on his site, but I'm pretty sure it is the lime.
I can't wait to see how yours turns out!

OK.........
I finished my Shape Shifter,,,,,,,,
But if you don't mind I'd like to refer to it as
"Hyper Velocity"
IMG_3441.jpg

Now I know Tim Lehr better then 10 years........
I know him to be helpful,,,,
And one of the most knowledgeable men in rocketry.....
Maybe it has something to do with there being more snow on his roof these last few years if you know what I mean,,,,,
He keeps putting extra parts in with the rocket kits,,,, I don't know what these are for,,,,,,,
007.jpg

The back of my rocket came out great.....
Motor retention is Aeropack True minimum Diameter............
The retainer is set to a depth for a Aerotech 38 / 1080 case..............
IMG_3445.jpgIMG_3446.jpg

The avionics bay is really why I'm posting this.........
IMG_3449.jpgIMG_3452.jpgIMG_3453.jpg

The overall bay came out nice,,,,,,,

Continued next post................

My intent was to see if I could fit everything
that a full size av bay of mine has in a 38mm coupling............

It was a very tight fit,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The wall thickness of the coup and the airframe is 1/8",,,,,,,
so I had to order 2/56" X 1/4" long shear pins so they didn't protrude into the avionics compartment..........
The way the sled is in the coup rotationally ( if that is a word or makes sense ) allows room for the plastic rivets to come through,,,,,,,,
The sled,, 2 bulkheads and the coupling will only go together one way............
IMG_3460.jpgIMG_3462.jpgIMG_3463.jpgIMG_3464.jpg

Along the sides of the sled I had to round out the ply,,,,,,,,,,,
001.jpg003.jpg004.jpg
005.jpg006.jpg

As per the norm for my builds,,,,
The nose cone shoulder is held in with rivets and the Big Red Bee Transmitter goes in the nose cone...............
Also as per my "norm" there is a piston over the avionics bay under the main,,,,,,,,,,,
Much less likely to burn the main and it makes the echarge 3 times more efficient............

Mark Hayes from stickershock,,,, you are the man................

Teddy

Ohhh,,, Ohhhh,,,,,
That's my beautiful wife Sandy in the first pic,,,,,
She just had a total hip replacement
and you guys all wished her well and get better soon....................
Thank you so much...................

( Now she squeaks when she walks,,,,, eeaaa,,eeaa,,,eeaaa,,, )
