After papering a set of fins for a Sunward Six-Footer, two of the fins have a slight warp to them. Is there anyway to flaten them out. The warp is not real bad, I just dont want them to impart a spin to the rocket. Would a spritz or two of water, then put them under a heavy book or two do the trick? :confused2:

What I've done in the past on much larger chucks of wood to straighten out the warp was to fiberglass them. This will work for balsa fins but n use a 2 oz. glass or something lightweight. Heavier cloth will work but it's just overkill. What I did was to wet both sides of the fins with the resin and/or epoxy and then layer the glass on both sides adding more resin as needed making sure there are no bubbles. Then I sandwich the entire mess between two sheets of mylar or some sort of release material and then place a weight on top. Both sides of the fins need to be on something very smooth and very flat. You only need enough weight to straighten it out. Get some gloves and do this where you can make a mess. Drips on the floor or working surface are a fact of life.
