Here is my first effort at a scratch build !

I’m in awe of some of the builds I have a seen. Mine is quite basic in construction , but I really wanted a version of starship , as with no kit version available.

I live in the UK . I stick with LPR and MPR rocketry .
I often go for kits that are staged or clustered.
While Estes A-D are easily available here , ( Estes E/F are not sold . I’m always trying to find a way purchase some from the USA ?)
Aerotech single use are also really hard to come by and expensive here.

For E and F recently a Polish company called TSP has offered some to the UK market.

We have a good supply of the German made Klima BP engines that offer D in 18 mm that makes an excellent choice for clustering.

The whole construction of this rocket is also made from Klima parts.
Two Klima 50mm diameter tubes have been used , along with a Klima 4x18 mm Motor mount and baffle .
Lastly a balsa nose cone I carved into shape , along with balsa fins.

I have gone for a separation point to mimic the starship and booster arrangement.
I was worried I needed to keep the wing fins on the upper starship fixed and stable in flight so I made a simple anti rotational arrangement out of some spare balsa to look like grid fins.
I placed some extra nose weight in the starship portion to counter the 4 engine cluster for C of G .

Here are couple of pictures on the launch rail in my garden.
And then a couple more of the motor out and my in-flight locking mechanism.

I have recently purchased some more Estes PS2 tubes. And some more Klima tubes.

I’ll continue looking at all your pictures for inspiration. Cheers!

Beautiful work!

I’d like to see two swing tests, one with nose cone fins vertical, one horizontal.

What’s the full pad weight?

450gms pad weight with 4 Klima D 9-7 18mm motors.
I’ll try to find time to do a swing test in the week 👍
