Tonight, I'm posting some of the Shrox kits that go together - out of the zillion or so kits I built that Shrox designed.
The Orion was one of the plans released by Apogee, in newsletter 78. It's a little BT-50 sized rocket.

This version of the Orion is one that I think precedes the Apogee release.
I had only this black and white image to guide me, so made a guess as to the decal and color scheme. To guide the scale, I assumed it was to be similar in size to the Apogee newsletter Orion.

The Orion Transport is a BT-70 scale version of the Orion released by DynaStar, i.e. from ApogeeThis rocket was also modified to be rear-eject, partly because I plan to be able to swap out the engine block with mounts for various sized engines. Since it was designed to be a light-weight rocket, and thus pretty versatile, I'll start with an 18 mm mount, so that I can use some of the 18mm D engines from Apogee. I'll also make an ejection motor mount with a 24mm mount, for estes D and E engines.

I did not like the peel and stick decals, but otherwise it was a fun little build

    DynaStar (#05029) Basic Information.

[IMG] DynaStar Mid-Power Model Rockets (DynaStar)

MODEL NAME: Orion Also known as: Orion Transport

    NUMBER: #05029

    Introduced:
    Final Year:
    Designer: Shrox

    Type: Exotic, Upscale
    Motor Mount: 1x24mm
    Recovery: Parachute
    Stages: 1
    Length: 28.50" (72.39 cm)
    Diameter: 2.22" (5.64 cm)
    Span:
    Weight: 4.76 oz (134.94 g)

Mfg. Description: Let your imagination take a trip to distant worlds. The Orion is the latest corporate star cruiser that will make your journey to other planets fast and full of luxury. This is one of the sleekest looking rockets you'll find, and it is packed full of decals to make it look so realistic. Big too! It is 2.2 inches in diameter, and flies on 24mm diameter motors.

Big model rockets don't have to look so boring and generic. Most mid-power have that look of just three-fins-and-a-nose cone. The Orion kit, designed by Shrox, breaks the mold and is actually an attractive looking larger rocket.

And even though it is big, that doesn't mean it is hard to assemble. It is actually an easy to build rocket. For example, the construction step you may spend more time on is assembling the nozzle on the back end of the model — which by most standards is pretty easy (a Skill Level 3 task). So you'll find yourself flying this model in just a few hours of pleasurable building time. (Apogee 2013 Web Ad)
