RIP Rankin/Bass's Bilbo Baggins (Orson Bean), 91

Orson Bean, comedian, and actor in film, and TV, was killed when he was struck by two cars while crossing a street in L.A.. He was 91.

He had a long career, but I'll most remember him as the voice of Bilbo Baggins from the Rankin/Bass Hobbit cartoon. And in his role as Loren Bray in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.

When I saw an older picture of him I thought I recognized him from The Twilight Zone. Sure enough, he was Mr. Bevis in an episode.
Orson Bean was a very interesting guy. Johnny Carson thought so, too. He was a guest on The Tonight Show over 90 times.
