Sometime during the pandemic (yes, that was a blur), I woke up to find that my cat had knocked over my Estes 1/100th Saturn V and had destroyed the escape launch system.

The bottom piece is fine and I can fix the cone with putty and sanding, but I need a new fuselage. Estes support said they don't have the piece. I purchased a pack of launch lugs, but they are all the wrong size. Does anyone know where I can get a new piece?

Maybe the next hijinks your cat gets into might be to help thwart the getaway of some bank robbers and then you get a reward for their capture so you can buy the new replacement parts for that broken rocket!

My wife said I'm probably not the only person who's cat destroyed their model.

the bt3h was the tube size for the 1/70th Estes Saturn 1b Escape tower. The 1/100th, at least the K36 and 2001 versions were plastic molded escape towers.

So after a little research, I do see that Estes did change the 1/100 capsule, as can be seen in the instructions for the new 1/100th Saturn 1b as well.

Ah, my mistake.
This is the part you seek:

Glassine, looks like a launch lug.
But smaller than a 1/4" lug and larger than a 3/16".
A BT-2+(aka BT-2.5) tube is a close substitution.
The nose and base will be a smidge loose, you will have to cinch it up with a small strip of masking tape.
And the OD is wider than the lip of the nose cone.

Or, roll your own with a piece of cardstock.
Laters.
