The Estes NC for this model is PNC-55EK, it is a 2 piece cone.

I am gathering parts for a Sandhawk build and want to get a balsa cone that is close.

What is best? Semroc has BNC-55AA that looks pretty close.
Any other ideas?

thanks

Semroc's BNC-55AA looks close to the original. The BNC-55F also looks close... I would go for the 55AA, IMHO

The bnc-55F is 4.2" long. The bnc-55AA is 3.125" long.

The scale PNC-55EK nose cone is 3.61" long.

I've made this cone in balsa before.

There is also an odd transition/coupler section that the original model has in two piece plastic.

I agree the 55AA is close. Hopefully somone can weigh in with actual dimensions of the EK cone to see how close. I'd be pretty tempted to roll with it if it were me, but close enough doesn't seem to cut it with some of these scale guys!(no offense intended, I admire the attention to detail) ;) :D

Hello...is this thing on?

I have one right in front of me (a PNC-55EK) and I just measured it.

It's 3.61" long.

Hmmm,
Semroc's BNC-55F is 3.8 inches long.
I guess that is close enough to the Estes length.

The Sandhawk profile looks more like the 55AA though.

I already have the 55AA so will probably use it.

Thanks for the input!
