Can anyone give tips or point me to a video of how to cut the base off a nose cone and make a "payload" compartment for an altimeter or a rocket finder. I want to keep it neat. I'd like to use a wooden tray and stick that tray into a 29mm/38mm tube.

I have in mind using a coupler but I don't know sizes. For example, I have an Estes Doorknob. It's a 3'' tube. What dimension would the nose cone be.?? And if I cut the base off that nose cone to install a coupler, what size is the coupler.?? Help.!! How do I keep it all neat and tidy and secure.??

Thanks Kyle. The link gets me closer to understanding.

When using centering rings to install a motor tube as an electronics bay, I use coupler centering rings from PML, but you can always use body tube centering rings and use a belt sander to get them to fit.
