I built an Estes BT-80 V2 kit about 28 years ago. Basswood fins and Titebond II. It's flown probably 100 times. But never on an F... until today. We lost it after burnout. I got a nice 2-mile walk in looking for it.

As we were driving off the launch site, I found it. It landed on Mars, near the road. Also known as the desert not far from my house near Las Cruces NM. (Artistic license taken by only adjusting the tint! No photoshopping.)

The bacteria are probably very confused about that not looking like all the other alien things…

We launch from an Arizona dry lake and loose a one now and then.
After putting away the launch equipment we fan out over the area and so far, have always found the missing rocket.
