Yes it's a rail button. The G altitude contest said some part of the rocket had to be 54mm diameter, contain an altimeter, and use a rail launcher. I made mine in the shape of a baseball bat with the top 5" the payload for the altimeter. One rail button went right below the nose cone/payload section and the other was on the fin. That kept me from having to add a standoff and the extra drag for the aft rail button.
