I got a minie-magg as a gift for my birthday. I already have one so I thought I would do this one a bit different. It is dual deploy and the transition is the av-bay. I used the 5.5" nosecone as the transition to 4". Should come in right around 6lbs. I will also make the motor mount 54mm.

Now I need a name and a paint scheme. What do you think?20210621_204125.jpg20210621_204622.jpg20210621_204906.jpg20210621_204915.jpg20210621_205730.jpg20210621_205740.jpg

I got the 5.5" to 4" ring made today. Basically the 4" tube is a 16" av-bay. I was able to get it all epoxied together also. The piece sticking out of the 5.5" end will get cut off flush.20210623_171018.jpg20210623_172602.jpg20210623_174444.jpg20210623_173505.jpg

I wanted a 54mm motor mount so I had to enlarge the one in the kit. This worked great. I need to trim down the fins a bit and it will be good to go.20210623_123502.jpg20210623_123541.jpg20210623_124244.jpg20210623_124257.jpg20210623_125953.jpg

OMG! As a die hard Minnie Magg fan, this is superlative! I have a 7" upscale on the back burner and now I am retinking it based on your very cool take on this old bird, thanks for posting. Straight smoke and good chutes!
P.S. The 12" is in danger now too! Does anyone know the absolute speed of polyethelene?

Thanks for the kind words.

I found some color shift paint tonight and thought I would try it out. I really like it.

I have seen some cool color shift paint jobs in person and some that were just OK. I've always found it is hard to get a real cool picture of color shift paint, though. Video sometimes does OK, but a static picture never seems to do a good job of showing a good color shift paint job. I can definitely see some cool purple/blue shift with your multiple pictures, but I imagine it looks way cooler in person. Not sure if there is a good way to get a short video in bright sun to show what it would look like if you were on the field looking at it in reality.

I hope it flies as well as I imagine it will. I still like the way your transition turned out.

Sandy.

Names? 54 cal Maggazine. Major Magg, Blue Shift. Shady Minnie.
What paint and clear? I seriously love this bird and may shamelessly copy your lead. That happens never. Straight smoke and good chutes. Dang son, you make LOC proud! Barry would be smiling ear to ear!

Thank you. I was trying to get different angles to show the shift. Clouds and stormy here right now so I painted in between showers.🤣🤣. Can't wait for the sun to come out so I can really see what it looks like.

Thank you for the kind words. I was also thinking shape shifter since it changes sizes and colors now.

I wanted black fins so I taped and painted them today. I really like the look now. Got the top tube screwed onto the ebay also. 8/32 screws for that. Dew point is at 71. Humidity at 67%. So close to being finished. 20210709_172033.jpg20210709_172509.jpg20210709_172534.jpg20210709_172544.jpg20210709_172622.jpg20210709_172641.jpg20210709_172814.jpg

Interesting that you put the battery and altimeter on the same side as the all thread. Not criticizing, I just don't recall seeing that before. Also, what is the red piece under the RRC2?
I see that all the time. Wierd
