I’m trying to find material to make my own “sport chutes”. Something more durable than cheap plastic tablecloths from the dollar store. I have some commercial parachute that use very thin plastic that is slightly “crunchy”. Not sure where to find large sheets that I can cut up! Thanks!

  • round Mylar balloons
  • "space blankets" (camping / emergency blankets)
  • Mylar wrappign paper
  • Garbage bags (but heavy)
  • Light parachute / sail (spinnaker) material

Ripstop by the yard. https://ripstopbytheroll.com/ Bought the lightest material that they had. Its a little "plasticy" and heavier than other materials but much more durable. IFRC it was $5 a yard and $5 to ship. I made 4 chutes 2 12", 2 18". You could make more if your careful not to waste. My best chutes. If you are interested, I can provide more details.

$5 a yard that's a good price.
