Anyone else get addicted yet? Give me some places to look at. (has to be popular enough to have good images)

I tried to get Whitaker, NC flying field...but I forgot where it was...it was two years ago!:(

Yep, looks like a plane to me too. But It could be something like a pier that looks like a plane ;)

Wow! Never seen Google maps before. I found the house I grew up in!

If you zoom all the way in, you can see the image in the lake and a ghost image on shore.
It's almost as if a program attempted to remove the plane and shadow, but didn't do such
a great job... ;)

sramberg-- How'd you happen to find that one?

It's in an area that the resolution is not too good. You can't zoom in and see the actual flying field.

But has anyone checked out the launch pads at KSC!!!!!

We have a place on this lake (Flathead Lake) just a ways down the shore. So I just happend to find it.

My house is about 400ft into the low res "mush"

I've found a few neat things (i think I lost the pics):

-cessna out of Toronto Island Airport( SW )
-Learjet coming into an airport

Others have found SR-71s, U2s, Concordes and old aircraft scrap yards. What's even cooler is the nuclear test sites and such

I hope to find:

-the actual launch tower for the shuttle (just need to look around) (which direction is the pad from the runway??? I might've found it)

-Lake Louise :crystal clear lake in the Rockies

-a crop circle

-Mt. Rushmore

-Parliament Buildings

Where is the launch platform???

Here's an annotated shot from the KSC website that should help...

Here's another from the Canaveral Air Station virtual tour site that maps out
the other pad locations-

And spaceflightnow has a shot from ISS of the Discovery rollout-

Yes, maps.google.com is a very cool site that I've been using for awhile.

I also like the way it integrates yellow pages into it's search feature. You can do detailed or broad searches.
