Im actually now agreeing i didn't need the glass and the couplers. 
Should have listened t oyou all. I know this because the first thing (well, regarding this) I did was to put couplers in the fin can tube. Next I ventured into glassing, but did it on the two payload bays first (no cuts of anything, just regualr tubes.) After letting those dry, they are more then strong enough, and im not even going to put the couplers in, just to keep the weight down a tad (ironic, huh) Needless to say, you were right.
