Greetings all.

We got the pathologist report today and it wasn't what we hoped to hear.
It said that the cancer had gone through the colon wall after all. The breach may have been microscopic in nature, but it was enough for two nodes to be found positive for cancer. Please keep in mind that ONLY two were found to be positive out of several that were tested.

The surgeon could ONLY report what he saw with his own eyes, nothing more or less. I've had to deal with finger pointing from the in-laws, but this is NOT the surgeon's fault. One particular in-law is a cousin of my Father-in-law.
She has an R.N. as well as her phD, and her speciality was cancer research. She just retired to within 15 miles of our home within the past two weeks.
I don't share her view that the surgeon should have seen it ( she was with me when the surgeon gave me the post-op report), but will gladly accept her help in getting the best specialist in the field.

It was the job of the Gastroenterologist to find it, and he did.
It was the job of the Surgeon to remove it, and he did his part too.
It will be the job of the Oncologist to fight this disease with everything he's got, and we will get the best person for the job.

It is my job to see that Kelly never loses faith in her "Higher Power" or the people around her, or loses hope for the future that we are fighting for, and I swear by everything Holy that I will see her through this.

And that will make ALL the difference!! Amen. I really don't think I've ever heard it put any better than that Ed. You're a good man. Our prayers are with you both............

Kelly you are right bald is beautiful. look at sagorny weaver and demi more and many other women who have been bald and are totally beautiful. you will be no different.

You both have a hard fight ahead and must remember it is the cancer you are fighting not eachother so please remember that. the kemo will make you both tired and edgy. my best advice is to get a teddy bear or better yet kids punching dummy and place the word cancer on it. then take all your anger and frusterations out on it not each other.

The love you share for each other will help in your fight and grow your love even stronger.

YOu both are in my heart and prayers

Kelly got sprung from the hospital on Tuesday, and had her staples removed this afternoon. She's glad to be home and on the mend.

On her release, she was told she could resume a normal diet. She wanted me to pick up White Castles on the way home!:y: Thank goodness the nurse put them on hold for 24 hours:D.

Thanx again for all of the kind thoughts and prayers!

OMG I LOVE sliders!!! If they can't kill cancer, nothing can. Go get her a sack full and bring me back a couple too!! Don't forget the shakes and a couple of fries too.

Good Luck guys, we're still pulling for ya!:)

Tom

Ed I do not know how I missed this thread but everyone here at K and S Rockets will keep you and your wife in our prayers.

Good luck you guys!!! White Castle huh? Hopefully the cancer will go away and be replaced by a mild case of indigestion...:)

Things are moving along tward the start of the chemo. We met the Oncologist last tuesday and were very impressed by the courtesy and professionalism of him and his entire staff. It's obvious he got "the pick of the litter" when it came to med students:). They were completely familiar with Kelly's medical history well ahead of our visit.

Today she had a "port" put in for injecting the drugs without having to play hide-and seek with her veins every two weeks. If the port looks good next week, she will start chemo the following week.

Please keep the prayers and the "positive waves" (from "Kelly's Heroes":D) coming!

Hi Ed,
The ones generating the positive waves are you and your courageous wife:) Keep up the good fight:)
Cheers

No Moriarity-guys here (did I get that right, from Kelly's Heroes?).
I have seen friends undergo chemo and I know it's not fun, but stick with it, use every weapon.
You have my prayers for a complete healing.

I.... don't know what to say. I hope with all my heart that things get better soon, and you come out of this dark time as soon as possible.

Today, Kelly goes for her second round of regular chemo. She had signed up for an experimental program to try an additional drug. Without chemo, she has a 40% chance of the cancer coming back. With chemo, this drops down to a 27% chance. This experimental program was to see if this new drug (currently approved for treating existing metasticised cancer, and showing promising results:)) would lower the percentage even more. She receives the regular chemo every other Tuesday for 24 weeks and was scheduled to receive the experimental drug every Tuesday for 24 weeks. Just yesterday we found out that the clinical trial has been ended and they say it doesn't improve the odds. At least we found out now instead of at the end of the 24 week period. one side effect of this drug was Acne occuring on the chin and forehead. SHE WAS NOT AMUSED when I would call her "my main squeeze":dark::hot:\

So far the "regular chemo" treatment are going very well. The main side effect seems to be an increased sensitivity to cold- just in time for winter! This is so bad that she has to drink her Diet Mountain Dew at room temp:eek:. One positive side effect of the chemo is that it appears to have cleared up her eczema se gets as a side effect to another medication she takes:confused2:. Typical of her to see it this way.

Right now her spirits are higher than any of us around her. She puts up with the poking and prodding without a single complaint.
I firmly believe SHE will see all of US around her through this difficult time.

Thanx for the prayers and the "positive waves":D
