Gary, does the M1830CS require the grains to be bonded like the M2250CS? I am thinking of using one of these two motors for my Level 3 flight at Airfest and I am thinking I don't want to deal with bonding grains for this flight - there is enough already going on and I don't want to try something I've never done before for a cert flight. While I'm asking that question, the M1230I does not require bonding.....correct? (this is another alternative motor I am thinking about)

Thanks for your answers. I did look at their website before coming here but since the M1830 is fairly new I don't know if it's included in the instructions yet.

Scott,
Neither the M1830CS or M1230IM require grain bonding, both are an excellent choice for an L3 as well. I'll be flying the M1230IM at NYPOWER in my Formula 150.

What rocket are you using?
Good luck.

I used the M1300-P Imax Dual Thrust for my L3 and I had no trouble with the case bonding. Loved the Dual Thrust aspect too, a good hard hit on the pad then throttle back for a nice flight.

I am flying a Wildman kit, the "Extreme Wildthang". Either of these motors will certainly provide a extreme flight. Should break mach and get over 12,000 feet. Thanks for the info Gary, it's much appreciated. By the way, I almost bought the Formula 150 for my flight - I have one of the smaller ones I picked up at LDRS a couple years back and love that thing, simple and sturdy which is a pretty good combo in this hobby.

CAR announced a new certified motor yesterday: Pro98-6G White Thunder. This "special request" reload fills a gap between the high-thrust N10,000 motor and some of the lower thrust motors at around 3,000N average thrust in this hardware for rockets not built around the longer 6G-XL hardware.

And, Dr J., looking forward to the press release. If you are taking requests, here is my wish list. Hoping some of it will be in the pipeline soon.

(1) an Imax load for the 98-6GXL case. Should work out to be a baby "O". (probably not on your pending list, judging by the high of 17,907Ns.)

(2) something / anything in the 5,000N thrust range between the M4770 (98-3G) and N5800 (98-6GXL). The M3400 (98-4G) and N3180 (98-6G) come close, but the 10" Jayhawk likes a little more kick off the pad, and won't fit the 6GXL case. (And the N10,000 is still a little intimidating.) How about a 6 grain C Star?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! For making some incredible motors, and ALSO for listening and responding to requests from your customers. I'll be flying the O3400 this year at MWP (in a scratch 7.5" G-10 rocket), and the N5600 as soon as I can get my hands on it, (in the 10" Jayhawk). CTI rocks!!!

Thanks for the pics guys, I will be happy with either of those motors - love the thick Vmax smoke, but the C-Star isn't half bad either!!

Due to low clouds and a ton of corn! I ended up flying my 7.5" SD Diablo again. This is the CTI J760WT 3G 54mm load, if your looking for a kick azz J motor this load fits the bill.

Agreed. The J760WT is nice as well. 20ns short of a K. Both kick ass J's.

Oh yeah, looks like Tom 'juiced' that motor....
;)

If you mean "Tim"....No juicing was done, He had a 3 grain CTI L995 Red in the Extreme Wildman. I had a 2 grain 98 in the Ultimate DarkStar, mine came up to pressure first. He did catch and pass me...by over double in altitude.
