Many years ago I decided to build a rocket that looked like an idealized toy rocket prop from a TV show. You know, a too-good-to-be-true rocket that you'd see sitting on the shelf of the tween boy of the show, which looked fabulous but that he'd never play with or refer to. I was always bitterly jealous of those TV characters for having such swell, non-existent toys.

I finished the Badger, Mark I, about 12 years back.I got a lot of use out of it:

The Mark I has a 24mm mount. Flies REALLY low and slow on a C11-3 (great for demo flights), and to respectable spot-flyer altitudes on a D12-5.

As my craftsmanship improved, I realized I could do better and started on the Badger, Mark II. I used a heavy duty BT-80 tube, and installed an interchangeable motor mount (3 x 18mm or 1 x long 24mm).

Done! I've since gave it a good wax and buff.

Very nice! And yes, I could TOTALLY envision this design as a shelf prop in some movie! Well done--dig the finish!

Later!

Very cool, and VERY shiny.

FYI though, we don't NEED no stinkin' badgers.

Badgers are unfortunately required.

RE the checkerboard, part of the inspiration for the design and the name were those stubby racing planes of the 30/40s. They often had checkers as part of their paint job. The most famous one I know of is the BG. BG=> BadGer.
