Estes gives you the chance to bring one rocket back. What would it be?

Stormcaster. I liked it so much I made one dual deploy and launched it on an F21.

    Thrust Vectored Falcon Heavy Model

I saw his rocket candy on YouTube, nice work. He reminds me of Elon Musk, must be his energy lol. Nice slow flights on a large air frame would be awesome. Maybe he will make more stuff we can tinker with on the projects we dream up. I don't think vectoring for stability Violates guidance rules...

Hi, every one been a long time

Hi, Guy's Been a long time since I got to play with rockets. Found a cardboard rocket and built a few different sizes of the retro looking model. Well I just can't leave things alone and started to build a large scale and see if I can make a flying version out of one. It's 31 inches tall and 9...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Hard to say, Maybe one reason for them to be barely stable is they usually have guidance that will make them go where they want them to go. But we have to figure out how to make them just go straight up and contend with the wind. I don't have open rocket, I have been using Rocsim. I think a lot...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Seeing your Hawk I do like the idea that it has the 38mm MMT :-) Looks longer in proportion from the forward fin tip to the nose than mine too. I think making one of those DD would make it fun to push and see how it does. The Hawk I now have in the pictures is the polecat 5.5. I am going to...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Yeah, I already priced out all the stuff for the Mad Cow 23B. The tax man is even going to get me a small av bay so I can play. I just can't stop myself from tinkering with everything lol. Well they had all the stuff to do it! I have a perfectflite MAWD that needs putting in something too. It...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

I stand corrected, TLP does make a 23B in 2.6. I can see trouble lol. A little fiberglass and a 29mm MMT Hmm. it's only 25 bucks too lol.

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Always good to have pictures. This thread is making me want to build a small Hawk lol. If you have the one with the opening in the fins, I guess that would be the Mim-23B They whistle as the climb off the pad, it is awesome to hear. I am not sure if the smaller ones do but I think I am going...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Nice stuff I will have to talk to my buddy and get some vinyl. I have never found those shots before. That Hawk must be for training. First I will have to get of ma butt and fix my hawk before I look into that.

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

I think the design on mine is from what the Germans are using or used. I have seen some nice variations on the Israeli Hawks that I almost used. Are we going to see some build pictures. I am interested in seeing your kit. Should be a nice light rocket. I do have a TLP Alarm that is my favorite...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Thanks! Jiffycoil and sodmister. It's sitting on the bench with a mean zipper in it from a failed drogue right now. I don't like using the tape because I think it helps mess up the tubes over time, plus I build to picky and would rather modify the hook if I have to. I tried it once at a...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

Personally I like the engine hooks rather than the snuggy tape trick to hold the motors in. I do put an engine block in for the biggest motor I can fit in and then just use a spacer for the smaller motors. I am assuming that you have a 24mm motor tube. Who knows you may want to fly that thing on...

First The Launch Pad MIM-23B HAWK

You can always rub some epoxy on the thin edge of the fins to harden them. That way they will stay sharper longer.

Nice shot Gary! I heard you had some great flights.

    Full Scale Phoenix Crash

I think for the most part no one meant there was negligence involved. Surely not me as I have had and understand how difficult it can be to get it right sometimes. We all have seen when professionals have not had success even when there are teams of individuals making all the calculations...

    Full Scale Phoenix Crash

Well done job on the safe distance and things do go wrong now and then. I feel bad for who ever owned the rocket and you know they worked hard to get it there as well as the money invested. It was a beauty of a rocket too but the pictures where out standing! It always makes it better to see...

    #4 shear pins

I understand what your data was about Bob, I was not trying to imply you where leading him astray or missing something. Your answer was fine and I appreciated it as well. I just wanted to reenforce that I thought using 4-40 screws where not a best choice for his application as well as give...

    #4 shear pins

I have to agree with JDCluster here, You are only trying to keep the nose cone from popping out during the drogue event basically. Your rocket is fairly light to boot. If your nose cone is most of the weight you may want to be thinking about higher strength fasteners but 18- 19 pounds for the...

    "antique firearm usage"

Best to try and calculate your charges and see if you can get close for the first charge. Sometimes to small of a charge puts much more stress on the airframe if it does not push the nose cone off releasing the pressure. None of us usually fly high enough that a synthetic powder would be prone...

    PF MAWD Data Analysis

I am going to wait to try this but it sounds so good. I have a few MAWDS and to get more out of them would be awesome :D Once you get the bugs out and make it more user friendly. I can not wait to try it.
