Has anyone used the new Estes Star Tech Igniters

Just got a notice that Estes has upgraded it's igniters. Has anyone had the opportunity to use them yet? They go for $1.00 a piece so not cheap. https://estesrockets.com/product/002303-startech-starters/

What got you into model rockets?

I was a child of the Space Race. Project Mercury, Gemini and Apollo got me interested in model rockets. Every kid in the neighborhood shot them off everytime we had enough money to buy more motors. The roofs on every house on our block was littered with rockets. Even the dad's joined in the fun.

Estes 1/200 Scale RTF Saturn V

Some folks just refuse to read instructions. I refuse to share a field with morons like this.

    Love coffee

Grew up on NAVY coffee strong enough to take paint off a ships hull. I do appreciate a nice refined cup though. Is there a source to get properly roasted beans? Not interested in roasting my own but would not mind buying some. I have started drinking Black Rifle Coffee past few years. They have...

    My Apogee X-15

Nice job. I am in the middle of my build. just finished doing the fillets on the wings and the fuselage parts. The kit is not very difficult. Looks like most of the time will be spent on putting a nice finish on it. Prime, sand, prime and paint. It is a heavy sucker!

That one hobby you always wanted..

RC ship combat. I saw a group who make naval warships that have turrets that shoot BB's and they try to sink each others ship. It looked like a lot of fun.

Anyone else building the Apogee X-15 rocket?

I wish you would release the assembly videos in some kind of order. It is hard to follow them when they are coming out so sporadically and in no kind of order. The videos do help in conjunction with the printed instructions. i am glad your tests show adhesive used is working just fine. I am...

    Introducing myself to the forum

Nice fleet you have there. My rockets from the '60s are long gone. Mom did not have to save them for me I think they all got lost in trees or crash landed. You got some talent in the building department.

Anyone else building the Apogee X-15 rocket?

Got it over the Christmas holiday and just started building it last few weeks. Not too difficult of a build but I am wondering how well it is going to hold up to launches and landings. Balsa fin material is pretty flimsy and the front and rear fins go into a slot in fairings that is molded thin...

Estes Command Control #2234 launch controller

I bought one on a clearance at a local Hobbytown many, many years ago. It is the North Coast Rocketry model. Got it cause it looked cool. Never used it and got out of the hobby for a while. When I got back in it. I found that i still had this and it was never used. I went to local hobbytown and...

    It's been a year

Yup going on a year here also. Club in Texas had no launches during most of last year now it is limited to about 25 flyers First come first served. Have not made the cut. I do not think club flying events are a super spreader. All outdoors and plenty of room to spread out, but what do I know. I...

    New Rocketry show on TV

Wow, sure got a bunch of Grinches' here. Sure I love rockets and doing it safe. But sometimes I just like watching folks doing things I would not try. Heck it is all just for fun. I will be watching it tonight for a few laughs, sure beats watching another Christmas special on Hallmark.

Heck that gives me an idea to use an old tent I do not use anymore as a pop up spry booth. Genius idea.

    Benefits of kits

Model Rockets are not my only hobby. But I love to fly them. That is why i like good kits. Guys like me with limited time to design and scratch build can still make some mighty fine rockets and go out and fly them with friends for fun. The most i do is add to existing kits like my Estes Saturn V...

    Ultimate Saturn V...

Looks sweet but $850.00 is a little out of my price range.

    Benefits of kits

If someone already designed a kit that I wanted to build, then I see no upside to scratch building. Now many times I will get a kit and either find upgrade parts for it from another vendor, or I have a better idea on an improvement.
