Need Suggestions for Rebuilding a Estes 1:100 Apollo Saturn V #1969 (Long)

I am well aware of the LM shroud being available. I’m angry that while waiting for them to respond about the tubes, the wraps went out-of-stock. Since the #1969 kit is out of production, I can’t see them firing things up just to make a few wraps sets. I E-mailed them twice about a month ago...

Need Suggestions for Rebuilding a Estes 1:100 Apollo Saturn V #1969 (Long)

The leads on those tubes really helps! That will take care of a lot of the problems. As I mentioned, if I have to make my own corrugated sections using stringers, I have all winter to do that. ;-)

Need Suggestions for Rebuilding a Estes 1:100 Apollo Saturn V #1969 (Long)

I'm looking for suggestions on how I can make lemonade from a self-inflicted lemon, or more accurately, remake a Saturn V that became a highly-detailed lawn dart. Since they say a rocket is not truly a rocket until you fly it, in mid-September I decided to launch my Estes #1969 Apollo Saturn...

Why join the NAR as a casual low power sport flyer?

On the other hand, if it wasn't for the NAR and TRA successfully lobbying and even going to court against BATF in the 1990s to fight regulations that would have classified rocket motors as explosives, it's possible our hobby would have died by now thanks to even more drastic and stringent...

Saturn V builds - what would you different the next time around?

You might also check out StickerShock's 1/100 Saturn V decal/wrap set. It includes an SM wrap that should fit perfectly. (Considering Centuri had one way back in 1968, I'm amazed that 50 years later, Estes hasn't made an SM wrap and still directs modelers to simply paint it silver and call it...

Launch Controller Key Switch w/Non-Removable Key in On Position

This is going off-course. I am looking for a key switch (one that cannot be removed in the “on” position), not an RCA plug nor a machine screw key. I’m trying to make this a good project, not a Rube Goldberg contraption.

    Mantis Launch Pad Availability?

I thought about getting one of those, but I was put off by the price; the least expensive I could find online was $106, and our local hobby shop has the Aerotech Initiator midpower starter set with the Initiator rocket, Mantis pad, and Interlock launch controller for $200, which actually isn't...

    Personal launches on BLM land?

Our club actually owns some land in eastern Oregon and has agreeements with surrounding land owners and BLM. You just can't fly on BLM land without their permission. Well, you CAN do it, but if you're caught, there will be hell to pay (possible fines and jail time for trespassing), and you...

    Estes Little Joe II Cluster?

The original Centuri Little Joe II (on which this Estes model is based, I believe) was powered by a three-engine cluster, so six should do just fine. In fact, you might want to try flying it with three B6-4 for a first flight just to be sure it works and remains within field and altitude limits...

Launch Controller Key Switch w/Non-Removable Key in On Position

Now that I have found some clear and understandable plans for a single-pad wired relay launch controller (kudos to jsdemar for those plans!), I am going to try to build a launch control system. One stumbling block I have encountered is finding a 12V key switch that cannot be removed when the...

How To Build A Wireless Launch Controller

I have returned to the hobby after about 40+ years of being on/off, and I've been searching for good launch controller plans and/or understandable to non-electricians schematics for a low/mid-power setup. I want to have a little distance between me and the pad, and a relay setup fits the bill...
