What did you do rocket wise today?

Finally got the nerve to glue the fin cans into the lower body tube. Still have more gluing, filets, fin work and etc ... but it's a good start. For some reason this is the scariest part of building a rocket, but also the most rewarding - it's now starting to look like a rocket! Mark! 4

What did you do rocket wise today?

Although I can offer no guarantees .... here is my latest two .ORK simulations for my level two ship the 7.5" LOC/Precision Doorknob. The simulations should come attached with the engines I simulated with for my Level two. These engines are all focused towards the highest velocity off the rod...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Finally finished up the fin can on my 7.5" LOC/Precision Door Knob. Although a bit past the 'expiration date' the RocketPoxy is doing well for some of the joints. I'm starting to really enjoy working with West Systems Epoxy, very easy to work with and doesn't smell as bad as others. Next step...

What did you do rocket wise today?

'Tack Welded' the fin can using medium CA, let it dry overnight. Mixed up 1 pump ea of West Systems 105/205 + 1/4 tsp of 406 to add a little bit of 'body'. Poured it into the filet joint . . . I didn't see any flow from under the fin joint to the adjoining 'chamber' . . . Quick question...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Greetings! Finished up the 38mm and 54mm motor mounts by epoxying fileting. Added Loc/Precision motor retention with JB weld. I like to keep the original motor retention blind nuts, epoxied those in using petroleum jelly to keep the epoxy out. just need to paint on some more thinned JB weld...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Joe, This rocket features both 38mm and 54mm removable motor mounts. It certainly give you more options. My LOC Goblin has 29mm/38mm as well . . . it seems like its a fairly common feature with some of LOC's larger models. My SBR Fusion had 29mm/38mm as well . . . the one I lost due to a...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Finished glue filleting the 38mm and 54mm motor mounts and forward fincan CR for my 7.5" Door Knob Level Two build. Next are the fins . . . and fix my 3d printer . . . no luck printing since I moved from Texas . . . I've some good advice and will try that next. Mark!

    Warped Centering Ring Advice . . .

Paul, Perhaps you are right . . . It does offend my perfectionist sensibilities having a CR that is not quite perfect - haha! I can situate the CR such that there is a 2mm deviation 180 degrees apart ... This shouldn't have any negative effect - or will it?

Tony - great idea! This certainly will keep it from warping . . . Mark!

    Warped Centering Ring Advice . . .

Kurt, Great Poodle Story! That one pictured is my Show Dog (AKC CH. @ 7 years!), Service Dog (hand and voice commands), Guard, Scoundrel, Ladies Man, Party Boy, Baby Sitter Extraordinaire and etc. If we didn't take him places, he'd hold a grudge and lock the door. He had a special bark...

    Warped Centering Ring Advice . . .

Greetings! I'm slowly but surely putting together my LOC/Precision 7.5" Doorknob. I have found that the centering ring forward fin attach point has warped. Flattening one side against the table, I've about 4 or 5mm warpage on the opposite side. Is there a known good method for flattening...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Pre-glue fitting of my LOC 7.5 Door Knob. Since this is an 'advanced' kit with no instructions, this step seems to be particularly critical. All measurements will be committed to the OpenRocket ork file that I'm using as my 'instructions'. All fins and slots are numbered, tubes marked and etc...

    Peer Review Requested ...

Greetings, As a Rocketeer Returnee ( I wish I had made this one up ) I'm in need of a bit of help/guidance for anyone who has the time/skills: Problem: LOC Precision makes a wonderful rocket, the new LOC Precision 7.5" Door Knob rocket. This rocket is perfect for my level 2 NAR attempt. I...

What did you do rocket wise today?

West Systems 105/205 arrived . . . have 209 and 406 on order. Glued the RNWS shoulder ring to the inside of the nose locating it on the shoulder. Small steps . . . Tomorrow or Saturday the RNWS main tube will be glued. This is where the weighted and un-weighted cartridges will be inserted...
