    Rocketry in BC

^I'd love to get out to that spot. Rancher's can be a fickle lot. Some will tell you to fly at 'er other's will get mad you even asked.

    SpaceX Starship?

I planned to fly this rather obsolete Starhopper model this weekend while visiting some family who live beside a big frozen lake. I did a few spin tests on it and found I needed to add a little more weight than predicted with the base drag correction, but still less than without it...

    ^Thanks I didn't know that, much appreciated.

    My 3 launch circuit controller

I built a 3 circuit launch controller to ensure ignition of a 3 engine Falcon Heavy model. I wanted to be able to check continuity of each ignitor independently, and also control whether each igniter circuit is activated. This box is the result. A 12V battery provides the juice when...

    SpaceX Falcon Heavy

Cool. I am really amazed at how much pop you get with the 0-delay motors to pop out both the nose cone and the rear eject chute. I might have to run 0 second delay motors on the next flight of my Falcon Heavy build. The boosters were supposed to just fall off but they hung on until their delays...

    SpaceX Falcon Heavy

Congrats on the flight! There was a lot of things that could have gone wrong there and yet you ended up with a totally successful flight of a really complicated model. Your magnet attachment design is really unique, props for coming up with that solution. Do you do chute recovery on the side...

    Midpower build - with LED's!

We flew our rocket last weekend for our first night launch. The flight didn't include anything to record altitude, so I can't comment on performance. Everything turned out successful although the first ignition attempt failed with a quick burp of the engine. An Aerotech G80-7T was used once...

    3D Printing PLA and Rockets

I live in a desert and avoid PLA for rocketry stuff. Not worth the risk. The crystalline structure is a major PITA to work with if you aren't 100% at the right fit. It really doesn't sand easily, making for a lot of finishing work to achieve a nice fit. PLA is somewhat brittle, and layer to...

1/47th Semi-Scale SpaceX Starhopper, aka "Deskhopper" Scratchbuild

@eugenefl this is an awesome build! Nicely done. @neil_w I'm wondering how the base drag will affect my Starhopper model, hoping you can add some input? See the post here: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/spacex-starship.151484/#post-1915729

    SpaceX Starship?

The other Starhopper thread had me wondering about this and base drag: https://www.rocketryforum.com/threads/1-47th-semi-scale-spacex-starhopper-aka-deskhopper-scratchbuild.154605/ Here is the open rocket file for this, I'm hoping to learn more on base drag and if I can reduce the nose cone...

    Midpower build - with LED's!

My son and I have been working on this build for a while, as a sequel to a project we lost around this time last year. It's a 63mm airframe built out of shipping tubes, 1.38m long and flies on an Aerotech G80-7T. The performance of this payload and dual deployment capable rocket isn't anything...

    SpaceX Starship?

CNC cut vinyl stickers. One could do it with chrome tape from an automotive store too. The nose cone was printed as as staigt conical segments instead of a contstant curve to make it eadier.

    Canada rockets and fire restrictions

Thanks David, a local fire chief I talked to sounded on the fence about it but since the field I was looking at was out of city limits he didn't have any definitive opinion. It sounds like I would need to check with the local regional district for their say. I never ended up launching this...

    Canada rockets and fire restrictions

Ok so the one thing I can find is Canadian firework regulations where Appendix 4 Fireworks classifications lists model rockets (item A4.3) https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/explosives/fireworks/9903#A43

    Canada rockets and fire restrictions

Hoping someone can provide me some clarity on this. Current fire restrictions are in place on open burning which includes fireworks, sky lanterns and incendiary targets. I can't find any language that states whether this includes model rockets or if they are permissible along with small...

    SpaceX Starship?

20190425_145121 by gwh posted Apr 25, 2019 at 2:56 PM This isn't Starship but rather Starhopper, the slightly shorter and fixed fin prototype of Starship (that is before the nose cone blew over and they decided to just leave it as a trash can with fins). Printed in 3 segments of ABS, the layer...
