Okay... was able to launch Big Shot on an O-3000. Due to high winds, weather cocked a bit. Main out at 11,385'. Nevertheless recovered 1 mile away, directly next to the farm entrance road. Still struggling with zippering the booster. Happened last year as well. Will change setup slightly next...

Used a clamp to hold tube in place.... cuts are square.

I bought a 100T Carbide Blade , put a wrap of tape around tube, and it cut through like butter. Zero splintering. So far, so good. Thanks again.

Gonna try a 12" diamond blade on my miter saw. Thanks everyone for your responses. BTW, has anyone tried cutting these tubes with the blade running in reverse?

Hawk Mountain, and others, also label their body tube material as G12.

Is there a best practice for cutting G12 tubes with a mitre saw? Best blade, i.e. 140 BT? Hoping to not splinter the tubes...

Try using Metalset epoxy. Easy to work. Sandable. After I tape off and apply the Metalset A4, I wet my fingers with rubbing alcohol and smooth the fillet. Once hardened simply sand with 120 grit or finer.

So the O project is progressing well. There is 4x 1/4" threaded rod from aft centering ring to forward bulk plate. Then for additional strength and motor retention there is a 1/2" threaded rod screwed into the forward motor closure, up through the forward bulk plate, in the center between 2x...
