    NCR Motor Retainer

I've got three NCR by Estes rockets that I built back in the day using Aerotech motor tubes to use both Darkstars and Aerotech SU motors. You're right that the stock retainer won't fit around the retention ring of an Aerotech SU motor, but you can Dremel out some of the inner circumference of...

Thanks for the thoughtful response. Gorgeous woodwork there.

    sanding sealers.. all the same?

So you'll start with Timbermate, and then seal that with shellac? Any problems with enamel (e.g. Rustoleum) over the shellac?

    He's Back!

Well written. I'm hoping for good things in "Strange New Worlds".

So... a few things from John Langford's keynote at vNARCON.

John Langford and the team he and his family put together are very impressive, just based on what they've been able to do with the company and the business in the past 3-4 years. Their values, charter, and future plans equally impressive. Hard to imagine a better steward for the next 40 years...

Which, if any of these would you use to clear coat rockets?

How are you applying it? I tried this years ago, and didn't have great luck with either the application, nor the aging of the coat.

    Estes Mini Heli question...

    I know this from experience.

    Airbrush vs. Rattlecans

@Koffee - what paint are you using? Your rockets look great.

    Nomex Fabric

I bought this stuff about 18 months back for ~18.00. Although it shows unavailable, similar to what other folks here have posted. Wool-based though, as opposed to aramid (kevlar). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IZXHJE8

Astron Sprint - Replaceable kevlar shock cord?

That's what I do for LPR. I've had kevlar mounts on the fore end of the MMT burn through. I learned this from some LOC kits built some years ago.

What are the smallest LPRs you've ever clustered or staged? Was looking through the other forums while thinking about the size limitations at our

Similar problems on multiple flights. Leaving out the couplers is a good idea - worked well for a micro-manche I made from a SP plan years ago.

Agreed. Great fun. And the video was awesome.

    Estes 2020 Catalog Online

Love seeing the return of the C5-3. I built a four motor Fat-Boy booster (Sport Rocketry plan), with 3 of the motors C5-3s (C6-0 in the booster), taking advantage of the bulk pack pricing. Great lift. Thank you Estes.

Pictures of New 2020 Release Estes Rockets

I like the PSII (easy to build) models, but I did get them on clearance from Estes. I flew the Prowler with booster, and that was fun to watch.

CMASS 20 July Launch - Apollo 11 Moon Landing Anniversary - Acton, MA

Thanks to Kenn and all of the CMASS crew who volunteered to make yesterday a well-organized and successful launch (including a "moon landing" contest), this despite the oppressive weather conditions. I left early as the weather was getting harmful for me, but it was inspiring to see how many...

    Estes SLV Build

Great build thread - learning a bunch of things here. And thanks to @JumpJet for an excellent kit (assuming it was John). I really enjoyed the mini-heli and the Conquest as well - SLV is on deck.

    Estes Saturn V Engines

The Saturn V flies nicely on an Aerotech RMS F12.

    Estes Conquest Build and Musings

Nice - thanks for sharing. It looks like BIN provides a really smooth surface. I've tried Minwax Sanding Sealer (along with the "traditional" Elmer's Wood Filler) - BIN looks like it might be a helpful alternative.

Looking for 2 stage BT-80 kit

Years ago I built a Fat Boy with Fat Boy booster, from plans in Sport Rocketry. Neat rocket - 4 18mm in the booster, with the center motor a C6-0, lighting a 24mm in the sustainer. The other motors in the booster were C5-3s, that, along with giving a strong boost off the pad, deployed three...
