    altimeter makings

Darn that kills the whole project. Any model rocket needs to hit 5g to have enough velocity off the rod. I do not want to code a Kalman filter from scratch. I have a 10 DOF Adafruit IMU board that I was thinking of using but the same argument applies. Also they're out of production which makes...

    altimeter makings

I just ran into this on Adafruit. BNO055 + BMP280 https://www.adafruit.com/product/5937 Instant Altimeter. I just ordered mine so now I dare post this. It's damn small and saves one board on a typical make your own altimeter. Won't save any money making your own. But for those who want to code...

    Help!! MDRM schock cord mount

Long story short. I had a forward closure failure and fire that toasted the body tube in front of the motor mount. In the rebuild I corrected the mistake of not epoxying the shock cord retaining bolt.

God bless the good old days

Ah yes the Jan/Feb 1972 issue. I built one and caught the streamer on the wing on my first and only launch. Boost gliders hate me. My giant pip squeak was and is another matter all together.

    6th Grade Rocket Day Plans

Get extra igniters. The older Estes igniters with the white tips are notorious for not lighting the motors. Estes has some nice bulk packs of rockets. For a little more skilled students. BMS has a School Rocket for $5.95 per unit.
